Un total de 200 personas fueron beneficiadas con la cataratón y otras 700 recibieron evaluación médica. La jornada de cirugías oftalmológicas, se desarrolla en el Minsa Capsi de Tortí en el distrito de Chepo a través de la fundación norteamericana Panamá Mission.
Las cirugías iniciaron el 21 y culmina el 25 de enero. En esta jornada se están realizando 200 cirugías de cataratas y terigio, operación que se está realizando de manera manual y no con láser, explicó la primera dama Yazmín Colón de Cortizo.
Por su parte el ministro de Salud, Luis Francisco Sucre señaló que con apoyo de la Caja de Seguro Social y el Minsa se están realizando estas cirugías oftalmológicas que tienen una demanda muy alta en nuestro país y con el apoyo de esta organización norteamericana Panamá Mission, lo que busca es apoyar al Gobierno nacional y a la población que lo necesita.
“Se tiene planificado realizar en los próximos meses otra jornada de cirugías, ya que hemos captado una gran cantidad de pacientes del área Este incluso de Darién, que tienen la necesidad de operarse y por ende ir disminuyendo la mora quirúrgica”, dijo Sucre.
Adicional, a las cirugías oftalmológicas y entregas de lentes, el Minsa Capsi en Tortí estuvo brindando servicio de medicina general y odontología.
